Nenadi Usman Takes Charge of Labour Party Secretariat

On Tuesday, Nenadi Usman, leading the national caretaker committee of the Labour Party, formally took control of the party's national secretariat located in Utako, Abuja. This transition follows a Supreme Court judgment delivered on April 4 of the previous year, which concluded a prolonged leadership crisis within the party.

Usman characterized this development as a significant symbol for the party's future and noted that it marked the first official activity at the national secretariat since the court ruling. She assured party members nationwide that the leadership would focus on strengthening the party's structure across the country.

Usman commended the efforts of the caretaker committee and described their work as critical during this transitional phase. Ikechukwu Emetu, the deputy governor of Abia State and chair of the party's national steering committee, reported that the committee had made significant progress, including the revalidation of membership and the registration of over a million new members as of December.

Emetu urged stakeholders to collaborate in fortifying the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
