Nepal Flood Survivors Use Cable Crossing for Safety

Following one of Nepal's worst disasters, flood survivors are relying on a temporary cable crossing installed by the Nepal Army to traverse the swollen Trishuli River. This roughly 250-metre cable has become a crucial lifeline for communities in Bidur that have been cut off due to severe flooding and landslides caused by days of heavy rainfall.

The floods have resulted in the destruction of roads and bridges, damaging homes and isolating communities, complicating rescue efforts. The disaster has claimed over 1,200 lives, with thousands still missing.

As recovery operations continue, rescue teams and soldiers are actively searching for missing individuals and assisting survivors in reaching safer locations. The temporary cable crossing is vital for delivering food, water, and other essential supplies to those in need.

Authorities and aid workers are also evaluating the needs of displaced families as the focus shifts towards their welfare and recovery.
