NERC Dissolves Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company Board

On August 10, 2026, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) announced the dissolution of the board of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDC) through a regulatory order signed by Chairman Musliu Oseni and Commissioner for Legal, Licensing and Compliance Dafe Akpeneye. The dissolution was prompted by serious issues including prolonged regulatory and market defaults, inadequate investment, weak operational and commercial performance, and an inability to present a credible recovery plan.

NERC appointed a seven-member interim board consisting of Dr. Abdullahi Garba, Engr. Francis U. Agoha, Mr. Aliyu E.

Aliyu, Major General Henry E. Ayamasaowei (rtd.), Dr. Haliru Dikko, Mr. Ayodeji A.

Gbeleyi (representing the Bureau of Public Enterprises), and Dr. Abubakar Umar Hashidu. Additionally, Dr. Abubakar Umar Hashidu was appointed as Administrator for an initial term of six months, subject to review.

NERC has informed the Corporate Affairs Commission and other stakeholders of the board's dissolution, stating that no changes in the company's shareholding or directorship will be registered during the transition period without prior approval from the Commission.
