Kaduna Government Inaugurates New Agency Governing Boards

The Kaduna State government has reiterated that governing boards should focus on providing policy direction and oversight without interfering in the daily administration of their institutions. This statement was made by Dr AbdulKadir Muázu Meyere, the Secretary to the State Government, during the inauguration of the Governing Boards for four agencies: the Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority, Kaduna State Media Corporation, Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board, and the Kaduna State Livestock Regulatory Authority.

Dr Meyere emphasized that understanding the distinction between governance and administration is crucial for a productive tenure. He urged the boards to adhere to due process, the Public Procurement Act, and financial regulations, while maintaining high standards of accountability.

The boards were advised to work closely with agency executives and set measurable performance targets. Dr Meyere assured that the Kaduna State Government would support the boards in fulfilling their responsibilities, highlighting the importance of the Livestock Regulatory Authority and the media corporation in the state's development agenda.
