Nigeria's Power Sector Struggles: Only 5,506MW of 13,625MW Wheeled in October

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) revealed that in October, only 5,506MW of the installed capacity of 13,625MW reached Nigerian homes, indicating a significant gap in power generation and supply. The average industrial generation was 4,290 megawatt-hours per hour, with a load factor of 78%.

Despite improvements from September, the power sector continues to face chronic challenges, with top energy producers accounting for 80% of total generation. Notably, plants like Egbin, Delta, and Kainji showed varying levels of performance, underscoring the sector's fuel-related constraints.
