NERC Reports Only 78% Utilization of Generated Electricity on National Grid in October 2025

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) revealed that in October 2025, only 78% of the electricity generated on the national grid was utilized, indicating operational performance challenges. The average hourly generation during the month was 4,290mwh, with 60% of generation plants not available for dispatch.

The industrial sector recorded a 78% average load factor, with key power plants like Egbin, Delta, Kainji, and Zungeru leading in generation performance. Despite the availability of 13,625 MW, only 5,506 MW was dispatched, highlighting inefficiencies in the power sector.

Grid voltage levels also exceeded prescribed limits during the month.
