Xabi Alonso Urges Chelsea to Cultivate Team Hunger

Xabi Alonso, the newly appointed manager of Chelsea FC, called for a renewed sense of "hunger" and ambition from his squad during his first press conference. He stressed the importance of developing a strong mentality and culture within the club to achieve their goals, particularly in aiming for European qualification.

Alonso, who signed a four-year contract with Chelsea, refrained from discussing specific targets for his first season but expressed optimism about the potential for success. He specifically addressed the future of midfielder Enzo Fernandez, urging him to stay at Stamford Bridge despite earlier reports of interest from Real Madrid.

Alonso mentioned that Fernandez is one of four Chelsea players involved in the World Cup, alongside Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, and Malo Gusto. Alonso's predecessor, who managed Chelsea for just three and a half months, left the club after a decade without a Premier League title.

Alonso aims to build a strong foundation for the club's future.
