New City University Matriculates 35 Students in Ogun State

New City University, located in Ayetoro, Ogun State, officially matriculated 35 pioneer students on Tuesday, signaling the commencement of its academic activities following the approval of its operational license by the National Universities Commission (NUC). The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof.

Ralph Akinfeley, announced plans to expand the student population to 6,000 and introduce new academic programs, including engineering and medicine, as part of the university's long-term vision to become a center of excellence in higher education. The institution, established in 2019, aims to complement existing universities by providing innovative teaching and research approaches.

The university has received approval for five faculties and plans to establish a law program by the 2026/2027 academic session. The university emphasizes maintaining quality standards while adopting a flexible tuition payment structure to ease financial burdens on parents.

Prof. Joseph Olagunju, the Vice-Chancellor, highlighted the importance of academic focus and discipline among students.
