NYC Mayor Offers $100 US Open Tickets for Locals

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has successfully acquired 1,000 tickets for the 2026 US Open, priced at $100 each, in response to concerns over rising ticket prices for local communities. The tickets will be available to NYC residents on a first-come, first-served basis starting Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 10 am Eastern Time.

To qualify for purchase, buyers must provide a certified New York ZIP code. The tickets cover all main-draw games from August 30 to September 8, 2026, and are valid for use at Louis Armstrong Stadium, Arthur Ashe Stadium, and for grounds passes.

This initiative comes after resale tickets saw significant price increases, with ground passes originally priced at $65 reselling for an average of $263, and basic tickets for the opening day reaching $344 per pair. Mamdani stated that the project aims to ensure local residents can engage with this major sporting event.

US Open CEO Craig Tiley expressed satisfaction with the deal, emphasizing that tickets cannot be resold, preventing immediate profit from the offer.
