U.S. Open Announces Record $108 Million Prize Purse

The U.S. Open, scheduled from August 23 to September 13, 2023, announced a historic prize purse of $108 million, representing the largest payout in tennis history and a 20% increase from the previous year.

The singles champions, both men's and women's, will earn $5.5 million each, which is a 10% rise from last year and the highest payment for a main draw singles champion in Grand Slam history. Additionally, the tournament will feature a Grand Slam record for first-round payouts, which will increase by 27% to $140,000.

This announcement follows the establishment of a new initiative by the sport's four major tournaments aimed at giving players a voice on various issues, including prize money.
