New Zealand Clarifies Student Visa Duration for Foreigners

New Zealand Immigration has provided details regarding the Fee-Paying Student Visa for foreign nationals, stating that the visa duration is directly tied to the length of study a student has paid for or the expiry date of their passport, whichever comes first. This visa is intended for international students who are financing their tuition through personal funds, family contributions, loans, or partial scholarships.

Applicants must have a valid offer of place from a New Zealand-approved provider. The visa can be issued for a maximum of four years, but the actual duration may be shorter based on individual circumstances.

Students must demonstrate sufficient funds for tuition and living costs, possess full travel insurance, and meet health and character requirements. Additionally, students already on a student visa must show they are passing their course and meeting attendance requirements.

Holders of this visa can study full-time and work part-time under specific conditions.
