NFF Appoints Dr Ayo Abdulrahaman as NPFL COO

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) appointed Dr Ayo Abdulrahaman as the new Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Friday, coinciding with the start of the 2026/27 league season. This appointment is part of a broader restructuring initiative by the NFF aimed at reorganizing its management and league administration.

The NFF had previously issued a directive on August 27, requiring board members and chief executives of various leagues, as well as non-NFF staff chief operating officers, to vacate their positions. Abdulrahaman's responsibilities will include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the NPFL and coordinating league activities as the season progresses.

The NPFL season began with a match between Shooting Stars and newly promoted Inter Lagos at the Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan. Additionally, Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme was appointed as the interim General Secretary of the NFF, confirming Abdulrahaman’s appointment in line with the federation's restructuring efforts.
