NFF Report Reveals Payment Disparities in Football

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Fact-Finding Committee, led by former NFF Ethics Committee member Ambassador Fanny Amun (MON), reported significant disparities in the treatment and compensation of national team delegations. The committee was formed after the Super Falcons' disappointing performance at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, where they failed to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Amun disclosed that the investigation uncovered that some NFF board members and management staff receive payments while players and certain officials are inadequately compensated. The report also examined allegations of financial incentives affecting player selection and technical decisions.

It emphasized the need for proper investigations into these claims and called for greater transparency and accountability in the administration of national teams. The committee found no evidence of undue player influence over selection decisions and noted a lack of confusion in roles within technical teams, suggesting clearer definitions to enhance accountability.
