NFF Investigates Super Falcons' World Cup Qualification Failure

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has established a fact-finding committee to investigate the Super Falcons' failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. This decision comes after Nigeria's disappointing performance at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the team was eliminated in the quarter-finals and subsequently lost 2-1 to South Africa in the playoff for a place in the Inter-Confederation Playoffs.

This failure marks the first time Nigeria will miss the Women’s World Cup since its inception in 1991, ending a remarkable streak of participation. The committee, chaired by Ambassador Fanny Amun, includes former players Ladan Bosso, Desire Oparanozie, Mutiu Adepoju, and Dr Alex Mana, with Nasiru Jibril serving as secretary.

The committee's mandate is to investigate the causes of the recent failures and recommend measures to improve Nigeria's national teams and prevent similar setbacks in future competitions.
