NGSTQB Endorses National Software Testing Guidelines

The Nigerian Software Testing Qualifications Board (NGSTQB) has officially endorsed the National Software Testing Guideline introduced by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). NGSTQB urges that the enforcement of this guideline follows a risk-based, tiered model rather than a uniform standard.
The guideline mandates that software developed, modified, integrated, or deployed in Nigeria undergo both functional and non-functional testing, which includes assessments of security, performance, usability, compatibility, reliability, maintainability, and portability before operational deployment. This requirement applies to both public and private sectors, with the testing depth determined by factors such as system risk, data sensitivity, public exposure, and potential failure consequences.
Mr. Boye Dare, President of NGSTQB, emphasized the importance of software as critical infrastructure in Nigeria's economy, stating that inadequate testing leads to failed transactions and compromised public services. NGSTQB's support is based on five positions, including backing the guideline's objectives and advocating for proportionate, risk-based regulation.
