NGX Market Wrap 30-07-2026 | Plus234Feed
The Nigerian Exchange closed at 245,378.91 points on Thursday with mixed sentiment, as strong gainers in MAYBAKER and LEGENDINT offset notable losses in insurance and leasing stocks. Trading activity remained robust with ₦228 billion in value transacted across 46,758 deals.
The NGX delivered a mixed performance on Thursday, 30 July 2026, with clear divergence between sectoral winners and losers signalling selective profit-taking and rotation among investors.
MAYBAKER led gainers with an impressive 9.87% rally, gaining ₦3.85 to close at ₦42.85, reflecting strong investor interest in the stock. LEGENDINT (+8.64%, +₦0.35 to ₦4.40) and DAARCOMM (+7.32%, +₦0.12 to ₦1.76) also posted solid gains, suggesting renewed appetite for mid-cap equities.
However, the gains were tempered by notable losses in the insurance and financial services space. TRIPPLEG led decliners with a sharp 10.00% drop, shedding ₦0.32 to ₦2.88, while LASACO and CILEASING fell 9.92% and 9.84% respectively. MBENEFIT declined 9.80%, dropping ₦0.35 to ₦3.22, and LIVESTOCK shed 8.99%, losing ₦0.85 to close at ₦8.60. The concentration of losses in insurance and leasing stocks suggests sector-specific headwinds or profit-taking among institutional holders.
Trading remained healthy with 2.06 billion shares changing hands, valued at over ₦228 billion across 46,758 deals. FIRSTHOLDCO dominated volume with 1.56 billion shares traded, though leading banks ACCESSCORP, ZENITHBANK, and FIDELITYBK maintained respectable activity levels.
Investors should monitor whether tomorrow's session brings continued rotation into growth stocks or a stabilisation of financial services names.
