NGX N-Zero Launches Corporate Climate Assessments

The Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group) has initiated corporate baseline assessments as part of its N-Zero initiative, aimed at enhancing climate readiness among Nigerian businesses. Launched in January in collaboration with DEG Impulse gGmbH and Africa Foresight Group (AFG), N-Zero focuses on helping companies transition from climate ambition to actionable strategies.
The baseline assessments will evaluate each participating company's readiness in areas such as climate-risk management, emissions measurement, and transition planning. The initiative has engaged over 50 companies, with 17 officially onboarded as community members, including prominent firms like Access Holdings, Dangote Cement, and United Bank for Africa.
Temi Popoola, GMD/CEO of NGX Group, emphasized the importance of measurable progress in the transition to a net-zero economy. Following the baseline assessments, companies will undergo needs assessments to identify gaps and define steps toward credible climate targets.
N-Zero aims to strengthen internal capabilities while uncovering commercial opportunities in the shift to a lower-carbon economy.
