NIA Launches New Agricultural and Reinsurance Committees

The Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) inaugurated two new Technical Committees on Agricultural Insurance and Reinsurance to strengthen technical expertise and promote best practices within the insurance industry. This inauguration brings the total number of NIA Technical Committees to 16.

Mrs. Bola Odukale, the Director-General of the NIA, emphasized the importance of these committees as platforms for advancing the industry. The Agricultural Insurance Technical Committee will focus on promoting best practices and enhancing members' capabilities in underwriting and claims management specific to agricultural insurance.

Meanwhile, the Reinsurance Technical Committee will address reinsurance matters and practices, aiming to improve the capacity of member companies in reinsurance underwriting and claims management. During the inauguration, members were briefed on their roles and responsibilities, followed by elections to establish leadership structures for both committees.
