NAIC Launches Passenger Accident Insurance Scheme

The Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC) has announced the introduction of a Passenger Group Accident Insurance Scheme in partnership with the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO). This initiative aims to provide financial protection for commuters affected by road traffic accidents across Nigeria.

The announcement was made during a meeting at NAIC's headquarters in Abuja, where Hon. Yazid Shehu Danfulani, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NAIC, emphasized the scheme's role in alleviating the financial burden on victims and their families.

Danfulani noted that approximately 32,000 commuters sustain injuries and about 5,200 lose their lives annually due to road traffic accidents in Nigeria. The insurance cover is designed to offer financial relief to accident victims and their families, thereby mitigating the economic impact of such incidents.

Stakeholders expressed their commitment to the successful implementation of the initiative, which aims to enhance road safety and social protection for millions of commuters.
