NiDCOM Commends Nigerian Professor's New Role in Canada

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), praised the appointment of Professor Odumosu-Ayanu as Dean of the College of Law at the University of Saskatchewan, effective October 1, 2026. This appointment, announced on September 1, 2026, follows a search process led by Patti McDougall, Interim Provost and Vice-President, Academic.

Dabiri-Erewa highlighted Odumosu-Ayanu's distinguished academic career and her significant contributions to legal scholarship and graduate education, noting her journey from Lagos to a senior leadership role in Canada as a testament to the excellence of Nigerians in the diaspora. Odumosu-Ayanu, who currently serves as Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies at the University of Saskatchewan, has been with the institution since 2008.

Her tenure is expected to enhance the College of Law's reputation and strengthen its leadership in Indigenous legal scholarship. Dabiri-Erewa expressed her wishes for Odumosu-Ayanu's success and encouraged her to inspire young Nigerians.
