NiDCOM Honors Nigerian Women for Global Achievements

The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, recognized two distinguished Nigerian women, Ugwechi Amadi and Professor Oghenetega Ighedo, for their significant global achievements.

In a statement from Abuja by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit of NiDCOM, Dabiri-Erewa praised Amadi for her recent appointment as Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of McDonald’s, highlighting her educational background as a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a Rhodes Scholar, and a PhD holder from the University of Oxford. Amadi has held senior leadership roles at LIV Golf, Nike, and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG).

Additionally, Dabiri-Erewa celebrated Professor Ighedo for becoming the first Black woman to earn a PhD in Pure Mathematics from the University of South Africa (UNISA), where she serves as an Associate Professor of Mathematical Sciences. Dabiri-Erewa commended both women for their groundbreaking achievements and reaffirmed NiDCOM’s commitment to promoting the accomplishments of Nigerians in the diaspora.
