NiDCOM Repatriates 13 Nigerians Rescued from Traffickers

The Nigerian Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has successfully repatriated 13 Nigerians, comprising 11 adults and 2 infants, who were rescued from human traffickers in Ghana. The operation, coordinated by the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana, was praised by NiDCOM's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Hon.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who emphasized the federal government's commitment to protecting Nigerians abroad. The victims, who faced serious health challenges, are currently receiving medical treatment and psychological support.

Dabiri-Erewa acknowledged the support of Nigeria's First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, in facilitating the logistics of the rescue mission. She warned young Nigerians against falling prey to dubious recruitment agents and unverified overseas job offers, which expose them to exploitation and abuse.

The repatriation exercise involved collaboration with relevant stakeholders and aimed to ensure the safe reintegration of the victims into society, in line with standard procedures established by NAPTIP.
