Niger Delta Games Torch Tour Kicks Off from Calabar, Promoting Sports Unity

The second edition of the Niger Delta Games commenced its torch tour from Calabar, Cross River State, with the torchbearer, quarter-miler Patience Okon George, leading the symbolic torch relay. The torch will travel through nine states in the Niger Delta region, promoting sports development and unity among the participating states.

The event was graced by officials from the sports commission and athletes at the U. J.

Esuene Stadium, with Governor's office representatives receiving the torch. The tour includes colorful processions, local cultural displays, and entertainment to engage the communities.

The next stops on the torch tour include Akwa Ibom State, Abia, Imo, Rivers State, Bayelsa, Delta State, and Ondo before culminating at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. The Niger Delta Games are organized by Dunami Icon Limited and sponsored by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), aiming to foster sports excellence and fair competition in the region.
