Aide to Niger Deputy Governor Killed in Midnight Attack

Jafar Abdullahi Dabawu, an aide to the Deputy Governor of Niger State, Yakubu Garba, was killed during a midnight attack at his residence in the Maitumbi area of Minna. The incident occurred around 2:00 AM on Thursday, shortly after Dabawu returned from participating in primary elections in Kuta, Shiroro Local Government Area.

Sources indicate that assailants, described as masked individuals, forcibly entered his home and inflicted stab wounds to his chest and face. Family members reported hearing cries for help, and police arrived at the scene to find Dabawu lying in a pool of blood.

He was rushed to Minna General Hospital but was pronounced dead at 3:30 AM. The Niger State Police Command has initiated a preliminary investigation into the attack, and Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba expressed his condolences, describing the incident as tragic and urging security agencies to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
