Niger State Shuts 15 Health Centres, Arrests Fake Doctor

The Niger State Private Health Facilities Agency, led by Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Suleiman, shut down 15 private health facilities in Suleja during an enforcement operation on a Saturday following intelligence reports.

The operation aimed to conduct routine regulatory inspections to sanitize the healthcare sector and protect residents from unsafe medical practices. During the inspection, a suspect was arrested for allegedly providing medical services without the necessary qualifications and valid practice license.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had dropped out of medical school and had been practicing as a medical doctor in Suleja for six years. The suspect had previously disengaged from a former employer due to issues related to credentials.

The agency emphasized its commitment to ensuring compliance with healthcare standards and warned private facility owners against employing unqualified personnel. The facilities were sealed pending the conclusion of investigations, and the suspect was handed over to security agencies for further investigation and possible prosecution.
