Nigeria and Germany Strengthen Strategic Partnership

On July 24, 2026, Ambassador Ita Solomon Enang, OFR, presented his Letters of Credence as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nigeria to Germany to President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Presidential Palace in Berlin. Accompanied by Deputy Head of Mission Mohammed Bashir Basha and Head of Chancery Chioma Aisha Okorie-Haidara, Ph.D., Ambassador Enang engaged in bilateral discussions with President Steinmeier.

They reaffirmed the strong relations between Nigeria and Germany, focusing on expanding economic and trade relations, energy cooperation, and agriculture. Key topics included the Siemens Power Initiative, migration agreements for skilled Nigerian professionals, and increased German investment in Nigeria's automobile assembly and gas utilization projects.

They also addressed regional security, Nigeria's role in ECOWAS, and Germany's support for the Green Tree Agreement regarding the Nigeria-Cameroon boundary. Ambassador Enang expressed Nigeria's gratitude for Germany's recent humanitarian assistance, reinforcing the commitment to enhance cooperation in various sectors.
