Nigeria Welcomes UK's Commitment to Women, Peace Agenda

Nigeria has expressed appreciation for the United Kingdom's recommitment to the Women, Peace, and Security agenda, particularly in the context of implementing United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325. Ahm Danbazau, the Minister of Interior, acknowledged the impact of the UK's Spring Programme, which supports efforts to promote inclusive peace and security.

Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, welcomed the UK's renewed pledge, describing it as a significant boost to Nigeria's efforts to fully implement the Women, Peace, and Security agenda. She emphasized that the implementation of UNSCR 1325 is crucial for ensuring that women are not only protected during conflicts but also empowered as leaders and decision-makers in peace and security processes.

The Nigerian government, under President Bola Tinubu, reaffirmed its commitment to deepening collaboration with international partners to promote inclusive governance and strengthen institutional frameworks that advance sustainable peace and meaningful participation of women at all levels.
