Nigeria's Progress Under Tinubu: Reno Omokri's Claims

Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide and ambassador-designate to Mexico, declared that Nigeria is in a better position today under President Bola Tinubu than it was in 2023. In a statement posted on social media, Omokri cited various indicators of progress since Tinubu assumed office in May 2023, including a decline in the inflation rate, which he noted was 15.93% as of May 2026, down from higher levels when Tinubu took office.

He highlighted the increase in the national minimum wage from ₦30,000 to ₦70,000 and the rise in monthly federal allocations to states and local governments, averaging ₦700 billion. Omokri also mentioned that Nigeria's external reserves had risen above $50 billion, the highest level in 17 years.

He pointed out that 3.1 million university undergraduates benefit from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and praised ongoing federal infrastructure projects. Omokri urged Nigerians to assess the administration based on available economic indicators rather than political narratives.
