Nigeria Joins ICAO Trust Network for Passport Security

Nigeria has taken a significant step in improving passport authentication by entering the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Trust Global Network. This initiative, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, aims to address verification challenges faced by Nigerian passport holders at foreign border control points.

The successful importation of the necessary certification from ICAO's Public Key Directory (PKD) marks a milestone achievement for the Nigerian government. The process, primarily undertaken by Kemi Nandap, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, is expected to enhance the global recognition of Nigerian passports and facilitate smoother international border clearance.

The integration into the ICAO PKD framework will allow member states to verify Nigerian passports seamlessly, thereby reducing authentication-related obstacles and delays in international travel. This development underscores Nigeria's commitment to modernizing its migration and border management systems in line with global standards.
