Nigeria Joins ICAO Global Trust Network for Passports

Nigeria has made significant progress in resolving passport authentication challenges by successfully entering the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Global Trust Network. This milestone was achieved under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Ministry of Interior, headed by Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The process, which was primarily undertaken by Kemi Nandap, the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, aims to strengthen the global authentication of Nigerian passports and improve the verification process at international border control points. The integration into the ICAO Public Key Directory (PKD) is expected to enhance the confidence in the verification of Nigerian passports, particularly in an era where international travel increasingly relies on secure digital identification systems.

This achievement reflects Nigeria's commitment to modernizing its migration and border management systems and combating document fraud and identity theft, thereby facilitating smoother international border clearance for Nigerian passport holders.
