Nigeria and China Boost Health Cooperation at China-HOSPEQ

Nigeria and China are set to strengthen their health cooperation in various sectors, including medical technology, artificial intelligence, hospital development, diagnostics, digital health, health workforce development, and local manufacturing. Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, made this announcement during Nigeria’s ministerial remarks at the 32nd China International Medical Equipment Exhibition and Scientific Conference (China-HOSPEQ 2026) held at the China National Convention Centre in Beijing.

Salako highlighted Nigeria's commitment to advancing its health partnership with China beyond traditional trade to strategic collaboration aimed at improving health outcomes. He noted that the Nigerian Government, under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, is prioritizing stronger primary healthcare and local production of medical supplies.

Salako called for deeper collaboration in areas such as digital health, technology transfer, and health emergency preparedness, stressing that sustainable health-system transformation requires more than just equipment provision.
