Nigeria Strengthens Commitment to Cyber Digital Diplomacy

Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to cyber digital diplomacy during the second edition of the Anticipatory Cyber and Digital Diplomacy Workshop organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with support from the British High Commission. Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, emphasized that the future of diplomacy will be increasingly influenced by information and communication technology.

He urged participants to focus on practical outcomes and highlighted that embracing AI and digital statecraft would enhance Nigeria's diplomatic reach. Abdul-Hakim Ajijola, Chairman of the African Union Cyber Security Experts Group, noted that the workshop aims to prepare Nigeria for future technological developments.

Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, described the workshop as timely, citing Nigeria's status as a digital leader in West Africa. He mentioned government initiatives like the Ministerial Advisory Council on Cyber Security and the National AI Strategy.

Professor Nnenna Ifeanyi-Ajufo stressed the need for stronger institutional capacity in cyber governance and the harmonization of cyber security laws across African nations.
