Nigeria Cricket Federation Appoints Mangongo as Head Coach

The Nigeria Cricket Federation has appointed Stephen Maziva Mangongo as the new head coach, effective July 1, 2026, on a three-year contract. This strategic move aims to strengthen Nigeria's cricket development structure and enhance the country's competitive performance on the international stage.

Mangongo is an ICC Level 3 certified coach with extensive experience in coaching and player development across various levels of the game. He has successfully coached Zimbabwe's U-15 and U-19 teams, as well as the Zimbabwe national men's team, contributing significantly to talent development within high-performance cricket systems.

Uyi Akpata, the president of the Nigeria Cricket Federation, described this appointment as a crucial step toward consolidating the federation's vision to build a sustainable cricket structure capable of producing world-class players. Mangongo will also oversee technical development and player education programs during his tenure, which is designed to improve Nigeria's standing in global cricket.
