Nigeria and Ghana Enhance Aviation Rescue Cooperation

On Tuesday, Nigeria and Ghana signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in search and rescue operations for aircraft in distress. The agreement was disclosed in a statement following its signing by Chris Najomo, Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), on behalf of the Nigerian government, and Stephen Arthur, Director General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, on behalf of the Ghanaian government.

The MoU aims to strengthen the search and rescue framework between the two countries and deepen operational collaboration. Najomo emphasized that the cooperation goes beyond regulatory requirements and reflects a shared humanitarian duty among the countries involved.

The agreement establishes clear procedures for cooperation during emergencies and reinforces Nigeria's commitment to meeting international aviation safety obligations. It also aims to enhance Nigeria's preparedness for international civil aviation organization audits and improve safety management systems within the aviation sector.
