Indonesia's Ambassador Highlights $3B Trade with Nigeria

Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, Bambang Suharto, stated that Nigeria and Indonesia's bilateral trade has consistently surpassed $3 billion annually, establishing Nigeria as one of Indonesia's key trading partners in Africa. Suharto noted that Nigeria plays a crucial role in Indonesia's energy security and that Indonesian products have become essential in Nigeria.

He highlighted the potential for growth in their economic relationship, given their combined market of over 550 million people. Suharto mentioned that Indonesian companies in Nigeria contribute through investments and job creation.

He expressed a desire for a resilient partnership that benefits both nations. Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed, echoed the need for deeper economic ties, particularly in industrialization, manufacturing, and technology transfer.

He urged increased interaction between the private sectors of both countries, identifying agriculture and agro-processing as key areas for cooperation.
