Peter Obi Decries Nigeria's Worsening Security Crisis

Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate and member of the Labour Party, expressed grave concerns over Nigeria's deteriorating security situation, declaring that the country is "bleeding" amid a surge of violent attacks. He criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for failing to uphold promises of safety, particularly following Tinubu's visit to Plateau State on April 2, 2026, where he assured citizens that violence would not recur.

Obi pointed out that deadly attacks occurred shortly after this assurance, including in the Nyamgo Gyel community of Jos South Local Government Area, resulting in multiple deaths. He also referenced a gunmen attack in Nasarawa State that killed at least 11 people and led to the displacement of residents.

Furthermore, Obi highlighted a mass kidnapping in Zamfara State involving 150 individuals and reported killings in Borno and Benue States. He emphasized that the ongoing violence reflects a failure of leadership and called for urgent action to address the escalating security crisis.
