Nigeria Launches Intelligence-Led Road Safety Patrols

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Nigeria has initiated intelligence-led road safety patrols, launching a nationwide special intervention patrol known as the Zonal Special Intervention Patrol (ZSIP). This initiative began on July 20 and involves the deployment of 12 intelligence-led operations across the FRSC's zonal commands.

The primary goal is to tackle the leading causes of road traffic crashes by addressing local crash patterns and enforcing public awareness. The operations are designed to confront specific dangerous behaviors that contribute to road accidents, with the aim of reducing fatalities and injuries.

FRSC Marshal Shehu emphasized that road safety is a shared responsibility, requiring collective action from the government, transport stakeholders, and every road user. The initiative represents a decisive shift towards intelligence-driven enforcement, which is expected to deliver a greater impact on road safety across Nigeria.
