Afenifere Faction Calls for Better Governance in Nigeria

During a monthly meeting held in Ilesa, Osun State, Oba Olaitan Oladipo, the leader of a faction of the Yoruba socio-cultural group Afenifere, expressed dissatisfaction with the current management of Nigeria. He stated that the group is prepared to lead efforts to change the country's trajectory, emphasizing that poor governance has made life unbearable for Nigerians.

Oladipo announced a readiness to collaborate with individuals and groups interested in effecting change in governance. He noted the establishment of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Osun State, with former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola expressing support for the initiative.

The meeting also included discussions on uniting the Yoruba race against political interests that do not serve the people's demands. The gathering was attended by various dignitaries, including legal practitioners and former political leaders, and followed the recent passing of former Afenifere leader Chief Ayo Adebanjo, who died at the age of 97.
