Nigeria Unveils Para Team for 2026 Commonwealth Fencing

The Nigeria Fencing Federation has announced a 12-member para squad for the 2026 Commonwealth Fencing Championships, scheduled for August 9 to 14 at Rugby School Nigeria, Atlantic City, Victoria Island. The team consists of six men and six women, all set to represent Nigeria in the para events.

This event is significant as it is the first time the Commonwealth Fencing Championships will be held in Nigeria and the first senior fencing tournament hosted in Africa. The men's team includes Oduneye Opeoluwa, Adibe Bright, Owolabi Daniel, Ajani Idowu, Adeniji Michael, and Owoyele Damilola.

The women's team features Obilor Chidinma, Rahamon Abiola, Iorguna Joy, Ezeamwafor Esther, Otun Joyce, and Kumuyi Itunu. In preparation for the Championships, the World Abilitysport, in collaboration with the Commonwealth Fencing Federation and the Nigeria Fencing Federation, will conduct the 2026 Wheelchair Fencing Academy (ENABLE Academy) in Lagos from August 5 to 7, focusing on training and coaching techniques in wheelchair fencing.
