NIM Calls for Stronger Governance to Combat Corruption

The Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) has called for stronger institutional governance and improved management practices to address corruption and mismanagement hindering Nigeria's development. President Abimbola Ayuba made this statement on Friday in Lagos during the announcement of the 2026 Annual National Management Conference, which will celebrate the institute's 65th anniversary.

The three-day conference, themed “Sixty-Five Years of Management Excellence: Strengthening Institutional Governance in Nigeria,” is scheduled to take place at Tafawa Balewa Square starting Sunday. Ayuba stated that the institute aims to enhance management practices at both corporate and governmental levels, striving to reduce instances of mismanagement and corruption.

The conference will gather government officials, policymakers, and business executives to discuss major management issues affecting Nigeria. NIM, established in 1961 and granted charter status under Act 14 of 2003, has seen significant growth, with around 200,000 individuals and 400 corporate organizations as members.

Dr Dakuku Peterside will be the main theme speaker, while Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo will deliver a speech at the event.
