Nigeria and Niger Customs Strengthen Kamba Border Trade

On Thursday, the Nigeria Customs Service, Kebbi Area Command, hosted a delegation from the Nigerien Customs to address trade issues affecting the Kamba–Tungan Gyado border corridor. The meeting aimed to facilitate legitimate trade, generate revenue, and alleviate economic hardships for communities on both sides of the border.

Mustapha Mubarak, the Customs Public Relations Officer, announced the engagement, which included Mahmoud Ibrahim, the Customs Area Controller of Kebbi Area Command, and Abdoulaye Vincent, Comptroller of Douanes du Dosso, Niger Republic. Vincent emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the two customs organizations, citing disruptions in trade due to insecurity in other regions and diplomatic issues with the Benin Republic.

Ibrahim expressed commitment to enhancing cooperation and pledged to educate stakeholders on customs procedures. The meeting concluded with the Sarkin Shikon Kamba thanking the CAC for fostering a conducive business environment and expressing hope for the partnership's success.
