Nigeria Customs Generates N88.93bn Revenue in 2026

From January to September 2026, the Kano/Jigawa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service generated N88.93bn in revenue, as disclosed by Acting Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller UU Adamu, during a press briefing on Friday. The command's revenue for the first half of the year was N63.08bn, with July marking the highest monthly collection in its history at over N14bn.

The command also reported seizures and detentions with a combined Duty Paid Value of N2.16bn, including 1,491 cartons of foreign spaghetti, 2,928 packs of foreign macaroni, and five 40-foot diverted transit containers valued at N645.16m. Additionally, the command intercepted 48 animals on August 25, believed to be the largest single seizure of wildlife in the history of the Nigeria Customs Service.

The command also seized undeclared foreign currencies and counterfeit agro-packaging materials, with several suspects arrested and handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation.
