Nigeria Police Force Trains Officers in Drone Technology

The Nigeria Police Force has successfully trained 30 officers in drone technology to bolster operations against terrorism, banditry, and other security threats. These officers, all graduates of the Nigeria Police Academy in Kano, completed the Basic Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Course One organized by Nethawk Aviation Solutions, a Kaduna-based indigenous defense technology company.
The graduation took place on Saturday, October 10. Flight Lieutenant Adedoyin Akerele (retd.), founder and CEO of Nethawk, stated that the program aims to develop local technical expertise and support authorized security operations.
This graduation marks the first phase of a broader initiative to train 100 police officers in unmanned aircraft systems. The training encompasses aviation ground school, basic and advanced drone training, specialized mission qualification, mission planning, and strategic operations management.
Nethawk has conducted unmanned aircraft operations in over 65 communities across Nigeria and has trained hundreds of aviation personnel for various sectors.
