Nigeria's August Oil Production Reaches 1.5 Million Barrels

In August 2026, Nigeria's crude oil and condensate production averaged 1,677,777 barrels per day, reflecting a 0.4% increase from July. Specifically, crude oil production stood at 1,500,190 barrels per day, meeting OPEC quotas for the fourth consecutive month.

The production range during August varied, with the lowest daily output recorded at 1.64 million barrels and the highest at 1.71 million barrels. Eniola Akinkuotu, Head of Media and Corporate Communications at the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), reported that Bonny Terminal was the highest contributor with 320.04 kbpd, followed by Forcados Terminal at 317.40 kbpd.

The increase in production was largely due to the resolution of operational challenges at the Erha field, which had previously hindered output. The NUPRC noted that overall production activities remained stable, with ongoing efforts to enhance asset reliability and operational resilience, aiming for sustained production growth in the future.
