Nigeria Hosts African Land Forces Forum to Boost Security

Nigeria is promoting a joint response to security threats through the African Land Forces Forum, which took place alongside the Nigerian Army's 163rd anniversary celebrations in Port Harcourt. Military leaders from countries including Angola, Cameroon, and South Africa convened to strengthen defense cooperation and address Africa's evolving security challenges.

Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff, emphasized the importance of military collaboration to confront transnational threats, particularly terrorism and organized crime. The forum served as a platform to enhance interoperability among African armies and share experiences.

It also featured an exhibition of modern defense technologies and indigenous military innovations. The Nigerian Army has been actively engaged in counter-terrorism operations against Boko Haram in the Lake Chad Basin, adapting strategies and employing air power to restore territorial integrity.

The forum aims to foster strategic partnerships and reaffirm Nigeria's commitment to advancing peace and security across the continent.
