Nigeria to Launch Six Medical Simulation Centres

Nigeria is set to establish six world-class medical simulation centres aimed at improving practical training for students in medical, dental, nursing, pharmacy, and allied healthcare fields. Dr. Alausa announced this initiative while receiving the report from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Medical Simulation Committee.

He emphasized that this initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to expand the healthcare workforce and ensure quality training for the increasing number of students entering health professions. Dr. Alausa noted a significant rise in healthcare enrolment, with nursing students increasing from about 38,000 to over 120,000, and annual medical school admissions rising from approximately 5,000 to nearly 12,000 since President Tinubu took office.

The administration aims to boost medical student enrolment to about 20,000 within three years. Dr. Alausa commended Dr. Wale Suleiman and other committee members for their efforts and acknowledged the involvement of key stakeholders in advancing the plans for the centres.
