Nigeria to Establish Six Medical Simulation Centres

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to establish world-class medical simulation centres across the country's six geopolitical zones. This initiative aims to enhance healthcare training and strengthen the medical workforce.

Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, revealed this during the reception of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund Medical Simulation Committee's report. The centres will improve practical training for students in medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, and other allied health professions.

Alausa noted a significant increase in admissions to health-related programs, with nursing enrolment rising from about 38,000 to over 120,000 students, and medical school admissions increasing from approximately 5,000 to nearly 12,000 since the Tinubu administration began. The government aims to raise medical school admissions to about 20,000 annually within the next three years.

Alausa commended the committee's chairman, Dr. Wale Suleiman, and other stakeholders for their contributions to this initiative.
