Nigeria Launches 2026 Commonwealth Fencing Championships Mascot

The Nigeria Fencing Federation officially unveiled the logo and mascot for the 2026 Commonwealth Fencing Championships on Tuesday. Scheduled to take place from August 9 to 14 at Rugby School in Lagos, this event will be the first time Nigeria hosts the Commonwealth Fencing Championships, following South Africa's hosting of the junior edition in 2022.

The mascot, themed around an eagle, symbolizes the federation's vision to elevate fencing in Nigeria. Adeyinka Samuel, President of the Nigeria Fencing Federation, expressed pride in this achievement, which highlights Nigeria's rising stature in international fencing.

The championships aim to attract global attention to Nigeria's growing presence in the sport. Rachael Samuel, Vice President of the federation, emphasized the importance of the event in promoting cultural exchange and grassroots growth.

The federation has received support from various partners, including the Lagos State Government and the Nigeria Olympic Committee, as well as sponsors like UNICEF and World Abilitysport.
