Sirika Defends Buhari's Legacy Ahead of Anniversary

Hadi Sirika, the former Minister of Aviation, defended the administration of late President Muhammadu Buhari in an interview ahead of the first anniversary of Buhari's death on July 13, 2025. Sirika insisted that Buhari left Nigeria as a flourishing nation with a strong economy and improved security, despite facing challenges during his tenure.

He acknowledged that while he is not an economist, his experience as a member of Buhari's administration provided him with insights into the country's state during that period. Sirika affirmed that Buhari left sufficient resources for his successor to stabilize the economy.

He declined to comment on the policies of the current administration under President Bola Tinubu, arguing that it is unfair to publicly criticize decisions made by the current government. Sirika emphasized that neither Buhari nor Tinubu intended to harm Nigeria through their policies, asserting that decisions were made with the country's best interests in mind.
