NOA's Issa-Onilu Calls for Unity on Nigeria's 66th Anniversary

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) called on Nigerians to renew their commitment to national unity, peaceful coexistence, and development as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary. In a message issued to journalists in Abuja, Director-General Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu emphasized that national development requires contributions from citizens, not just the government.

He described Nigeria’s independence as a pivotal moment that allowed citizens to shape their destiny. Issa-Onilu acknowledged the progress made since independence while urging citizens to recognize achievements and address ongoing challenges.

He stressed the importance of protecting peace and unity, especially with the 2027 general elections approaching, and encouraged respectful political discourse. Issa-Onilu highlighted that political competition should not compromise national unity and urged citizens to engage constructively in the democratic process.

He called for increased productivity, self-reliance, and responsible citizenship to sustain the gains of independence and promote values that support national cohesion.
